Our last trip to Vejlby Fed this past September was so much fun, we did it again towards the end of April. It's only a 2 hour drive from our place, so it's really easy to get to. Here is a map showing just how close and easy it is.
It's just 206 km / 130 miles away from home. Easy. But naturally we stopped halfway at a roadside rest stop to stretch our legs and tank up our gut with some home-made sandwiches and fresh instant coffee from our
designer Stelton thermos and our
brand new self stirring mugs we got from Santa last year.
There is not much to say in this blog. If you have been following my blog then you know the routine: we had to cross the very amazing Store Bælt Bro / Great Belt Bridge. I didn't take any pix of the bridge this time because I have so many and so does google. So click the above link if you want to see one of the worlds greatest bridges. USA and China have the most longest bridges. For some reason Store Bælt is divided up as 2 separate bridges on the Wikipedia list. I think it's because half of the bridge has a train track and half doesn't. That's the way it is noted on the Wikipedia list of longest bridges. Click onto the column of Countries and look for the Danish flag. It will be listed in order of countries.
I really needed this break. I basically did nothing for the entire week. I didn't even stir my own coffee. On our last visit (see the blog) I wanted to see and do everything. This time I wanted to do nothing and it was sooooooooo nice to do just that - nothing!
We got really lucking with the weather. On the cool side but mostly sunshine. The first 2 days we burned our faces in the afternoon sun sitting out on the back patio. Here now are a few pix of the house we rented. These are from the website of the rental agency.
Jens and I slept in this green bedroom which was right next to the 2 toilets.
And here are a few pix I snapped from my phone cam and my real camera. See if you can guess which photos cost 4 times as much as the other - ha ha.
Jens and his sister, Gitte.
Good friend Birthe, Gitte, Lucia - Jesper's girlfriend, Jens.
and Jesper, Gitte's son.
One of Denmark's favorite pastimes.
and Carlo - Gitte's husband and father of Jesper.
Lucia is from the Czech Republic. She just recently became Danish too. Her Danish is a 1000 times better than mine.
And John, whom you will see in the video. John and Birthe came for an over-night from Copenhagen. Likewise, Jesper and Lucia, all the way from Kolding, were also staying for a 1 nighter. It was fun to have a full house.
After cake and coffee, we all went for a swim.
Ok.... we all went to watch John go for a swim.
Later that evening we all squeezed ourselves into the kitchen to have a very tasty dinner.
After dinner there was more past time to devour.
The following morning, there was lovely sunshine - though still on the chilli side. I went for a quick walk along the coast while Gitte and Birthe sat out on the terrace enjoying the sunrays.

Looking down.
On one of my walks in the area, I snapped a few random plants.
This pine tree was very unusual for me. It had hardly any green needles on it but it was loaded with baby pine cones. I want to clip a huge branch off and use it for Christmas. I've never seen red pine cones before.
We are only in the blooming stage so far in this part of the world. Lots of frost this year and it makes things open up slower than normal. But it's going in the right direction. (above and below are the same)
The one and only pot on the terrace. As simple as it was, I couldn't stop admiring it.
These are wild roses and they get to look like a pink, white or red carpet and they don't need any care except for digging them away. They are very evasive and will over take everything. As destructive as they can be, they sure are pretty when in bloom. Because of all the frost, most of the plant is still brown. All the brown bushes in the above and below pix are wild roses. The leaves are only starting to open.
Also on the terrace, were 2 of these plants growing from the ground, up against the house. The leaves are just starting to open.
2 days later, after Jesper and Lucia went back to Kolding and John and Birthe drove back to Copenhagen, Gitte and Carlo's daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandchildren showed up for cake and coffee. It's a really nice family. They are funny, clever and sweet. There is always a good story to hear from them.

But most importantly:
These are the views from the dinning table where I sat.
With views like this, it wasn't necessary to do anything and a pleasure to do nothing.
The bedroom was tight but the view was wonderful and double toilet access was funny.
I just got off of the phone with Gitte. We talked about what a great break it was and we are already thinking about next September in a summer house. I can hardly wait.
Thanks for reading.
