Here's a little story about some Greenlandic colors. It's winter and it's cold. Not as cold as it normally is and not as cold as in Greenland; even Greenland is not as cold as it normally is in Greenland - but nonetheless it's cold.
Though it is cold, a few weekends ago, on February 24, the sun was out and I decided to hop onto the harbor bus and go for a float up the harbor to Nyhavn and then walk back.
I wasn't planning on making a blog so it's just a few casual pix here. For staters, I snapped the new BLOX building (the modern building with the green glass) and the foundation for the new bike bridge about to be put in, as we sailed by.
When the harbor bus arrived at the Nyhavn station, I got off of the boat and walked across the Kissing bridge to the other side of the harbor. While on the Kissing bridge, I snapped a pix of this beautiful wooden ship. Between the wooden ship and the tall brick building would be the way that I was going to walk back home.

I was just planning on walking straight home. But when I saw the sign that said FREE.......
The sign was for the exhibition and coffee shop at The North Atlantic Art and Culture Center for the Faroe Islands and Greenland; both of which are Danish territory. Here on display were some of the native clothing from Greenland. All these years I thought the small beads were plastic. I thought they were plastic because Jens' mother has some artsy stuff made in Greenland and it's made of plastic beads. And I was always confused about plastic beads being a part of Greenlandic culture. It turns out that I am still very Americano in my mind. The plastic Greenland art that Jens's mother has is from a child's toy - no doubt, made in China. The beads used for the fancy Greenlandic clothing are actually made of glass - and NOT of plastic.
