So Many Men...

...so little time.  Today's offer of weekend excitement included an array of things to do in my neighborhood and all of them were centered around MEN!  4 things here I want to mention of what I could be a spectator of:

1) I could have watched some old men swing their heavy metal balls to and fro.

2) I could have watched some huge muscle men on "roids" push their weight around.  I actually heard the guys grunting and groaning as I road my bike past the event.  But it was all the yelling and screaming of the audience that got me to look.  I ended up snapping these 3 pix at the end of the event.  So no action here - sorry.

3) I could have gone to a huge football (soccer) event.  And I still can as the event is 14 days long.  But the games are also televised so as I write this, Hungry is playing against Iceland.  It's an exciting game and the audience is going wild.  But oh the poor Icelandic team.  So sorry.  Bad luck happens some times.  Iceland made the first goal just before the half time break.  Shortly before the end of the second half it looked as if Hungry was about to make a goal so Iceland went all out with lots of legs extended to block the ball.  But as it turned out, Iceland actually and accidently kicked the ball into the net of their opponent bringing the game to 1:1.

All these events are within a 10 to 12 minut walking distance from our home.

But I've been waiting for several weeks for this:
4)  Today's event, Cliff Diving, is sponsored by Red Bull and takes place at the Royal Opera House with divers diving off of the roof. At 27 meters high/89 feet, divers reach a speed of 85 kilometers per hour/50 miles per hour.  It's amazing, exciting and unbelievable.  The event took place just a 15 minute bike ride away, north along the harbor - the one we live at.  It was the Brilliant Brit to win with an amazing dive.  Check it out here.

Here now are a few pix I snapped at the event.

This is the foyer of the Royal Opera House.  It's huge and it's beautiful. It has 3 spectacular lamps that can be seen from the outside which are designed by Olafur Eliasson. You may already know of some of his work.  I've never actually been inside of the auditorium itself.  I'm not into opera but I will have to one day buy tickets just to see it.
