It's a Nice Day for a Pink Wedding

Play this in the background: Pink Wedding  The song is the same but I changed the color.  I can do that - right?  My good friends, Dan from New Joyzee and Stephan from Joymeny  decided to tie the knot.  It was late in August but I've been too busy to write this story earlier - sorry.  Still busy but Jens and I were invited to dinner at their place last night and they are such sweet guys, they inspired me to finally take a look at the pix in my camera. I swear - this is the first time that I've seen them since I've snapped them - that's how busy I've been.

Ok - so it was a Bee- You- Tea- Full- Day.  I was upset that Jens changed his mind about going almost at the last minute. But hey - that's what happens when you have the "parks".  So I got on my bike and pedaled my butt on out, along the harbor and then hung a left past the bridge and continued up the road to the town hall.

I thought I was early (I was) but almost half of the guest had already arrived.

The guest greeted each other and then into the town hall we went.
Above - You are looking at the chapel upstairs where Jens and I got married 26 years ago.  This is the chapel of the town hall.  So we all walked upstairs to the chapel.

And here we are in the chapel along with several other wedding parties and the commotion is just so overwhelming.

But it turns out that we were in the wrong place at the right time.  We found out that we had to go back down stairs to another corner of the town hall and then up the stairs to another room.  It was more official looking and less chapel looking.  But it was nice because it was just our party and it was quite and peaceful - old men like me appreciate that kind of thing.

It was short and sweet. Rings were fumbled. We laughed. We cried.  We were so thrilled for our dear lovebird friends.

And then we all went out to say congratulations to the newlyweds.

From here we were told to go to the garden.  In all these years, I had no idea there was a garden in the town hall.
We clinked our champagne glasses and wished all the best to the newlyweds.
Here's to the lucky guys -   Cheers, Skål and Prost !

Eventually we made our way to a private boat that the guys hired and we took a cruise around the harbor.
Stephen with his father on the left and Dan the boozer on the right.

The boat cruise was a surprise event.  There were 2 to 3 free hours between the wedding and the reception party according to the invitation.  I planned on going home to make dinner for Jens before heading out to the reception.  But when I found out there was a cruise, I called Jens and told him, "sorry hunny - you gotta do peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches tonight. I'm going for a ride - see ya."

On the boat, friends and guest advised me to try to convince Jens to come to the party for just an hour or two.  But Jens made it clear that he just couldn't do it.  After the cruise, I went home to change clothes.  What a nice surprise when I got home, Jens said to me that he now wants to go to the party.  Oh I was so happy about that.  But then bummed again when I found out that it wasn't so much that he wanted to go to the party, he was just bored at home all alone.

And now we arrived at Dans house where the reception is at his house in his backyard.  It's just 10 doors down from where we used to live.

We arrived on time but again, more than half of the guest had already arrived.

There were name tags for guest from 21 nations depicting the country and the language they speak.

There was a gay choir singing songs and I got a bit choked up when they started to sing Forelsket i København.  A double meaning ; to fall in love in Copenhagen.  And the choir also sang Wonderful Wonderful Copenhagen.

Then of course there was cake.....

....and a killer BBQ.

The party was so wonderful.  But it was all happening too fast.  The food was delish and plenty of it. There was good conversation between old friends and new friends. There were 3 great speechs.  2 that had us all rolling on the floor and 1 that was so very touching and sentimental. There was even a gay line-dance group performing.  I don't have pix of that because the cowboys were arriving as we were departing.  My husband who didn't want to go, finally pooped out after 6 hours of eating, cocktails, conversation, entertainment and simply just having a wonderful evening.  I was sooooooooo proud of my husband that he was having such a good time and that he was able to hang on for 6 hours.  That's really big for Parkinson's.

But now it's back to the daily bump and grind for both Jens and I as well as for Dan and Stephan but this time, there is a ring on the fingers.

All the best to you my dear friends Dan and Stephan.  Congratulations.
